My name is Katharyn and I’ve always had a suitcase.
I like to travel. I like to write. And sometimes I take photos along the way.
My last adventure?
I moved to Tacloban City, Philippines to teach 5th, 10th, and 11th grade English at Bethel International School for the 2016-2017 school year.
My next adventure?
Finding a U.S. based job working with children with behavioral and developmental disabilities.
Since I was young, due to my own diagnoses of Mild Cerebral Palsy, I have been highly exposed to how strong, confident and skilled therapists and doctors impact a child’s life for the better. As an adult I strive to be an individual who cares for children as therapists and doctors once did for me. I have learned that patience, confidence, organizational skills, strong relationships with parents, and empathy creates positive experiences for children and their families.
I have been very blessed to have family who loves me, friends who support me, and a faith that leads me. Now, with the support of my squad, my Bible, my journal, and my desire to teach and travel in my suitcase, I’m ready to take a step into the unknown and explore the world once more; hopefully making friends, impacting students, and learning about myself along the way.
